SQC Architecture and The Peppermint Room were engaged by Covenant Christian School to assist them in the design of a new two playroom Pre School to accommodate 44 students per session.
The design of the two playroom preschool presented several challenges in meeting the brief on a tight site which is crossed by a number of service mains. The existing campus is around 20 years old and its strong, consistent architectural aesthetic was also a key consideration.
The new preschool has its own distinct entry to the rest of the campus and the playrooms each open to a northern terrace adjoining a creatively landscaped playground. The colour palette, derived from the schools corporate colours, and features such as a crown banquette, explore-and-crawl cubby in the bag area and ceiling mounted Bible above the reading nook, provide a playful, bright and light-filled environment for the children to learn.
