Uniting required the redesign of an 84 bed residential aged care home proposed for the Amala Village site in Gordon, ACT. The desire was for a space efficient home with a welcome and comfortable feel, allowing for ageing in place and also dementia specific. Our task also included furniture placement and styling for marketing photography.
In order to achieve the desired homely environment for residents, we gave careful consideration to spatial layouts, furniture placement and finishes. Suitability for ageing residents and practicality for staff were also key considerations.
To appeal to differing tastes, and also to encourage residents to walk around within the households, the sitting rooms were assigned distinctive functions and themes. Artworks and curios were selected to complement and enhance the individual spaces.
